Growth Hormone Pulse Amplitude

Meaning

Growth hormone pulse amplitude is the quantitative measure of the peak concentration of Growth Hormone (GH) released into the circulation during a single secretory burst from the anterior pituitary gland. GH secretion is inherently pulsatile, not continuous, and the amplitude of these pulses is the primary determinant of the overall 24-hour GH secretion rate and biological impact. A significant decline in pulse amplitude is a characteristic feature of somatopause, the age-related reduction in GH availability.
