Graves’ Disease

Meaning

Graves’ Disease is an autoimmune disorder characterized by the overproduction of thyroid hormones, leading to a state of hyperthyroidism. This condition arises when the body’s immune system mistakenly produces antibodies that stimulate the thyroid gland, causing it to become overactive and secrete excessive amounts of triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4).
