GR-α Isoform

Meaning

The GR-α Isoform, or Glucocorticoid Receptor alpha, is the classic and most abundant splice variant of the human glucocorticoid receptor protein, mediating nearly all of the known genomic and non-genomic actions of cortisol and synthetic glucocorticoids. This ubiquitous intracellular receptor acts as a ligand-dependent transcription factor, fundamentally regulating gene expression involved in metabolism, inflammation, and stress response throughout the body. Its functional integrity is paramount for maintaining homeostasis and for the therapeutic efficacy of corticosteroid medications.
