GPCR Modulation

Meaning

GPCR Modulation refers to the pharmacological or nutritional manipulation of G-Protein Coupled Receptors (GPCRs), which are the largest and most diverse group of membrane receptors in the human body, responsible for sensing external signals. These receptors are critical intermediaries for a vast array of physiological processes, including sensory perception, immune response, and most notably, the actions of many hormones and neurotransmitters. Modulation can involve agonism (activation) or antagonism (inhibition) to restore or optimize cellular signaling.
