Gonadotropin Sensitivity

Meaning

Gonadotropin sensitivity describes the responsiveness of gonadal tissues, specifically ovaries and testes, to stimulation by gonadotropic hormones. These pituitary-derived hormones, Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH) and Luteinizing Hormone (LH), regulate gamete production and sex steroid synthesis. The degree of sensitivity dictates the physiological effect achieved by a given concentration of these crucial signals.
