Gonadotropin Sensitivity

Meaning

Gonadotropin Sensitivity refers to the responsiveness of the gonads, specifically the testes in males and the ovaries in females, to the stimulating effects of the pituitary hormones known as gonadotropins, Luteinizing Hormone (LH) and Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH). This sensitivity dictates the magnitude of sex hormone and gamete production in response to a given level of LH and FSH signaling. A decline in this sensitivity can be a clinical indicator of primary gonadal dysfunction, necessitating targeted therapeutic strategies.
