Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone Pulsatility

Meaning

Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone (GnRH) pulsatility refers to the essential, rhythmic, and intermittent secretion of GnRH from the hypothalamus into the pituitary portal circulation, which is the primary driver of the reproductive axis. The specific frequency and amplitude of these pulses dictate the downstream release of Luteinizing Hormone (LH) and Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH), which, in turn, regulate gonadal steroid production. Any alteration in this precise pulsatile pattern can lead to reproductive and hormonal dysfunction.
