Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone Analogues

Meaning

Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone Analogues are synthetic compounds designed to mimic or block the action of the naturally occurring Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone (GnRH), a decapeptide produced by the hypothalamus that regulates pituitary function. These analogues are structurally modified to achieve either sustained agonistic stimulation or direct antagonistic blockade of GnRH receptors on pituitary gonadotroph cells, thereby influencing the release of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH).
