Gonadotropin-Inhibitory Hormone (GnIH)

Meaning

Gonadotropin-Inhibitory Hormone, or GnIH, is a neuropeptide that acts as a negative regulator of the reproductive axis, exerting an inhibitory influence on the secretion of gonadotropins. This hormone modulates the activity of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis, counterbalancing the stimulatory effects of Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone (GnRH). GnIH plays a role in regulating seasonal reproduction in some species and is being investigated for its role in human reproductive and stress physiology.
