Gonadorelin Use in TRT

Meaning

Gonadorelin, a synthetic decapeptide identical to the naturally occurring Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone (GnRH), is sometimes explored in the context of Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT) to potentially mitigate testicular suppression. Standard exogenous testosterone administration shuts down the Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Gonadal (HPG) axis, leading to testicular atrophy and infertility. The clinical rationale for using Gonadorelin alongside TRT is to provide pulsatile stimulation to the pituitary, aiming to preserve endogenous LH and FSH secretion, thereby maintaining testicular function and spermatogenesis.
