Gonadorelin Stimulation

Meaning

Gonadorelin stimulation is a clinical procedure involving the administration of Gonadorelin, the synthetic equivalent of the endogenous Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone (GnRH). Diagnostically, this test is performed to accurately assess the functional reserve and responsiveness of the pituitary gland’s gonadotroph cells to secrete Luteinizing Hormone (LH) and Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH). Therapeutically, the carefully controlled, pulsatile administration of Gonadorelin is utilized to safely induce ovulation or stimulate spermatogenesis in patients diagnosed with specific forms of hypothalamic hypogonadism.
