Gonadorelin and Pituitary Function

Meaning

Gonadorelin, also known as Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone (GnRH), is a crucial hypothalamic decapeptide that stimulates the anterior pituitary gland to release the gonadotropins, Luteinizing Hormone (LH) and Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH). This relationship is central to the regulation of the Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Gonadal (HPG) axis, controlling reproductive function and sex steroid production in both males and females. The pulsatile release of Gonadorelin is essential for maintaining normal pituitary responsiveness.
