Gonadal Axis Calibration

Meaning

The clinical process of fine-tuning the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis to ensure the optimal, rhythmic production and signaling of sex hormones, specifically testosterone and estrogen, in alignment with the individual’s physiological needs. Calibration involves precise adjustment of upstream signaling molecules, such as luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), to maintain hormonal set points without inducing suppressive feedback loops or unwanted side effects. This is a critical objective in managing fertility, libido, and musculoskeletal integrity.
