GnRH Pulsatility Inhibition

Meaning

GnRH Pulsatility Inhibition is the suppression or significant slowing of the pulsatile release of Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone (GnRH) from the hypothalamus, a critical event that leads to the downstream reduction of reproductive hormones. This inhibition is a highly conserved adaptive response, often triggered by metabolic stress, chronic energy deficit, or high levels of inhibitory hormones like prolactin or cortisol. The resulting decrease in Luteinizing Hormone (LH) and Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH) secretion directly impacts fertility and sexual health.
