GnRH Pulsatile Release

Meaning

GnRH Pulsatile Release is the essential, rhythmic, and intermittent secretion of Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone from the hypothalamic neurons into the pituitary portal circulation. This specific, non-constant pattern of release is critical for stimulating the anterior pituitary gland to produce and secrete the gonadotropins, Luteinizing Hormone and Follicle-Stimulating Hormone. The frequency and amplitude of these pulses dictate the downstream function of the entire reproductive axis.
