GnRH Modulators

Meaning

GnRH Modulators are a class of pharmaceutical agents that specifically interact with the Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone (GnRH) receptors located on the pituitary gland. These compounds are categorized as either agonists, which initially stimulate and then downregulate the receptor, or antagonists, which directly block the receptor. Clinically, they are used to suppress or precisely regulate the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis, thereby controlling the secretion of sex hormones.
