GnRH Inhibition

Meaning

GnRH Inhibition refers to the deliberate or physiological suppression of the pulsatile release of Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone (GnRH) from the hypothalamus. The resulting effect is a marked reduction in the downstream secretion of Luteinizing Hormone (LH) and Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH) from the anterior pituitary gland. Clinically, this suppression is a foundational therapeutic strategy for managing hormone-dependent conditions, including certain cancers, precocious puberty, and controlling ovarian stimulation in fertility treatments.
