GnRH Antagonist Protocol

Meaning

The GnRH Antagonist Protocol is a controlled ovarian stimulation regimen used in assisted reproductive technology (ART), specifically during in vitro fertilization (IVF), to prevent a premature surge of Luteinizing Hormone (LH) that could trigger untimely ovulation. This protocol utilizes a Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone (GnRH) antagonist drug to rapidly and reversibly block the GnRH receptors in the pituitary gland. Its application provides a shorter, more flexible treatment course with a lower risk of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome compared to older methods.
