GnRH Analog

Meaning

A GnRH Analog is a synthetic compound that possesses a molecular structure similar to the naturally occurring Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone (GnRH), a decapeptide produced by the hypothalamus. These analogs are clinically employed to modulate the pituitary gland’s secretion of Luteinizing Hormone (LH) and Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH). They are classified as either agonists, which initially stimulate and then suppress, or antagonists, which immediately inhibit the pituitary response.
