GnIH

Meaning

GnIH, or Gonadotropin-Inhibitory Hormone, is a neuropeptide that acts to suppress the secretion of gonadotropins, specifically Luteinizing Hormone (LH) and Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH), from the anterior pituitary gland. It functions as a counter-regulatory signal to the stimulatory effects of Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone (GnRH). This peptide plays a significant role in modulating the Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Gonadal (HPG) axis, thereby influencing reproductive function.
