Gluten Sensitivity

Meaning

Gluten Sensitivity, often referred to as Non-Celiac Gluten Sensitivity (NCGS), is a clinical condition characterized by adverse systemic and gastrointestinal symptoms upon the ingestion of gluten-containing foods, without the presence of Celiac disease or a wheat allergy. In the context of hormonal health, this sensitivity is significant because it frequently triggers chronic, low-grade systemic inflammation. This persistent inflammatory state acts as a profound endocrine disruptor, indirectly affecting the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis and sex hormone metabolism.
