Glucose Management Indicator

Meaning

The Glucose Management Indicator (GMI), formerly known as the estimated A1c, is a metric derived from continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) data that provides an estimate of the laboratory-measured hemoglobin A1c value. It reflects the average glucose level and the percentage of time glucose was in various ranges over a period, typically the last 14 to 90 days. GMI is a practical clinical tool for assessing long-term glycemic control and the efficacy of endocrine and lifestyle interventions.
