Glucocorticoid Receptor Insensitivity

Meaning

Glucocorticoid receptor insensitivity, also known as primary generalized glucocorticoid resistance, is a rare endocrinological disorder characterized by the reduced ability of target tissues to respond appropriately to the action of glucocorticoid hormones, particularly cortisol. Despite having normal or elevated circulating cortisol levels, the patient exhibits symptoms of mild glucocorticoid deficiency. This condition reflects a defect at the level of the cellular hormone receptor.
