Glucobrassicin

Meaning

Glucobrassicin is a naturally occurring glucosinolate compound found in high concentrations within cruciferous vegetables, such as broccoli, cauliflower, and kale. While biologically inert itself, it serves as a precursor molecule that, upon enzymatic hydrolysis, yields indole-3-carbinol (I3C), which further metabolizes into the potent hormonal regulator diindolylmethane (DIM). This compound is of significant interest in hormonal health for its role in modulating estrogen metabolism and promoting the formation of beneficial estrogen metabolites. Dietary intake of Glucobrassicin is considered a foundational strategy for endocrine balance and chemoprevention.
