GIP GLP-1 Agonists

Meaning

GIP GLP-1 Agonists represent a class of pharmacological agents designed to activate both the Glucose-dependent Insulinotropic Polypeptide (GIP) receptor and the Glucagon-like Peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor. These medications mimic the actions of natural incretin hormones, which are released from the gut in response to food intake. Their primary clinical utility lies in the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus and, increasingly, obesity.
