GHSR Agonists

Meaning

GHSR agonists are a specific class of pharmacological compounds engineered to selectively bind to and activate the Growth Hormone Secretagogue Receptor, which is also recognized as the ghrelin receptor. These agents effectively mimic the action of the endogenous hormone ghrelin, powerfully stimulating the release of growth hormone from the anterior pituitary gland. They are currently under clinical investigation for therapeutic applications related to treating growth hormone deficiency, sarcopenia, and certain forms of metabolic dysregulation.
