GHSR Agonists

Meaning

GHSR Agonists are compounds that activate the Growth Hormone Secretagogue Receptor, or ghrelin receptor, found in the pituitary gland and hypothalamus. These substances mimic the physiological actions of ghrelin, a natural peptide hormone, primarily stimulating the release of growth hormone from the anterior pituitary. Their action specifically targets somatotroph cells responsible for growth hormone production.
