GHSR Activation

Meaning

The process by which the Growth Hormone Secretagogue Receptor (GHSR), a G-protein coupled receptor, is stimulated by its endogenous ligand, ghrelin, or by synthetic agonists. Activation of this receptor initiates a signaling cascade that primarily results in the potent, pulsatile release of Growth Hormone (GH) from the pituitary gland. This mechanism is a key target for therapeutic agents aimed at modulating growth, appetite, and body composition.
