GHS-R Sensitivity

Meaning

GHS-R Sensitivity refers to the degree of responsiveness of the Growth Hormone Secretagogue Receptor (GHS-R), also known as the ghrelin receptor, to its primary endogenous ligand, ghrelin, or to exogenous secretagogues. The GHS-R is predominantly located in the hypothalamus and pituitary gland, playing a central role in regulating appetite, energy balance, and the pulsatile release of Growth Hormone (GH). Optimizing this sensitivity is key to supporting metabolic and anabolic functions.
