GHRHR Gene

Meaning

The GHRHR gene provides the genetic instructions for synthesizing the Growth Hormone-Releasing Hormone Receptor, a critical protein located primarily in the pituitary gland. This receptor is essential for the endocrine system, as it mediates the effects of Growth Hormone-Releasing Hormone (GHRH), which in turn controls the production and secretion of Growth Hormone (GH). Mutations in this gene can lead to various forms of growth hormone deficiency and resultant short stature.
