GHRHR

Meaning

GHRHR, or Growth Hormone-Releasing Hormone Receptor, is a specific G protein-coupled receptor located on the somatotroph cells of the anterior pituitary gland, which is essential for regulating the synthesis and pulsatile release of Growth Hormone (GH). The binding of its natural ligand, Growth Hormone-Releasing Hormone (GHRH), to this receptor initiates a signaling cascade that culminates in the secretion of GH into the systemic circulation. This receptor is a central component of the hypothalamic-pituitary-somatotropic axis, dictating the body’s GH status.
