GHRH Stimulation

Meaning

GHRH stimulation refers to the clinical or physiological process of activating the release of Growth Hormone (GH) by administering or increasing the action of Growth Hormone-Releasing Hormone (GHRH). GHRH is a hypothalamic peptide that acts on the pituitary gland, serving as the primary secretagogue for GH. This process is utilized diagnostically to assess the functional capacity of the pituitary-somatotropic axis, particularly in cases of suspected growth hormone deficiency. Therapeutic applications aim to restore more youthful or optimal levels of GH and its downstream mediator, IGF-1.
