GHRH Resistance

Meaning

GHRH Resistance denotes a physiological state where the anterior pituitary gland exhibits a diminished or absent secretory response of growth hormone (GH) to Growth Hormone-Releasing Hormone (GHRH), despite the presence of adequate GHRH levels. This condition implies a dysfunction at the level of the pituitary somatotrophs, preventing them from appropriately stimulating GH synthesis and release. It is a specific form of growth hormone deficiency where the issue lies downstream of hypothalamic GHRH production.
