GHRH Receptor

Meaning

The GHRH Receptor, or Growth Hormone-Releasing Hormone Receptor, is a specific G protein-coupled receptor located primarily on the somatotroph cells within the anterior lobe of the pituitary gland. This receptor is the dedicated binding site for GHRH, a neuropeptide secreted by the hypothalamus, which acts as the principal physiological stimulus for the synthesis and pulsatile release of growth hormone (GH). Its integrity is paramount for the normal functioning of the somatotropic axis.
