GHRH Receptor Agonists

Meaning

GHRH Receptor Agonists are a class of synthetic peptide compounds designed to selectively bind to and activate the Growth Hormone-Releasing Hormone Receptor (GHRHR) in the anterior pituitary gland. Activation of this receptor mimics the action of endogenous GHRH, leading to a pulsatile increase in the synthesis and secretion of growth hormone (GH). These agents are clinically utilized to stimulate the somatotropic axis, primarily in the treatment of GH deficiency or to modulate body composition in specific clinical populations. They offer a more physiological approach to GH augmentation compared to direct GH administration.
