GHRH Mimicry

Meaning

GHRH mimicry describes the therapeutic strategy of administering compounds that functionally imitate the action of Growth Hormone-Releasing Hormone (GHRH), a hypothalamic peptide that stimulates the pituitary gland. These secretagogues bind to the GHRH receptor, prompting the pulsatile, natural-like release of endogenous Growth Hormone (GH). This approach is clinically preferred for its ability to restore GH levels and its downstream mediator, IGF-1, while maintaining the body’s physiological regulatory feedback mechanisms.
