GHRH Mimetics

Meaning

GHRH mimetics are a class of synthetic peptide compounds specifically engineered to replicate the biological action of the naturally occurring hypothalamic hormone, Growth Hormone-Releasing Hormone (GHRH). These pharmacological agents function as secretagogues, directly stimulating the somatotroph cells located in the anterior pituitary gland to release their endogenous stores of Growth Hormone (GH) in a pulsatile and physiological pattern. Clinically, they are utilized to treat various forms of Growth Hormone Deficiency (GHD) and to address the functional decline in the somatotropic axis associated with aging. They represent a targeted approach to hormone modulation.
