GHRH Analogues

Meaning

GHRH Analogues are synthetic compounds designed to mimic the action of the naturally occurring hypothalamic hormone, Growth Hormone-Releasing Hormone (GHRH). These pharmaceutical agents bind to and activate the GHRH receptor in the anterior pituitary gland, leading to a pulsatile, physiological release of endogenous Growth Hormone (GH). Unlike direct GH administration, these analogues preserve the body’s natural feedback loops, offering a potentially safer and more controlled method for stimulating the somatotropic axis. They are clinically used to diagnose GH deficiency and are being investigated for age-related decline in GH secretion.
