GHRH Analogue

Meaning

A GHRH Analogue is a synthetic peptide molecule designed to mimic the structure and function of the naturally occurring Growth Hormone-Releasing Hormone (GHRH). These pharmaceutical agents act as agonists, binding to and activating the GHRH receptor on somatotroph cells in the anterior pituitary gland. The clinical utility of these analogues lies in their ability to stimulate the pulsatile and physiological release of endogenous growth hormone (GH). This approach can be beneficial in addressing certain forms of GH deficiency and is often preferred over direct GH administration due to its more natural pattern of action.
