Ghrelin Resistance

Meaning

Ghrelin resistance denotes a physiological state where the body’s tissues, particularly the central nervous system, exhibit a reduced sensitivity to the hunger-stimulating effects of the hormone ghrelin. This diminished responsiveness means that despite elevated circulating ghrelin levels, the expected increase in appetite or modulation of energy expenditure does not occur effectively, leading to a dysregulation in satiety signals.
