GHRd3

Meaning

Growth Hormone Receptor exon 3 deletion (GHRd3) is a common genetic polymorphism in the human growth hormone receptor gene, characterized by the absence of exon 3 within the extracellular domain of the receptor protein. This genetic variation impacts the binding affinity of growth hormone to its receptor, potentially influencing an individual’s responsiveness to growth hormone signaling. The deletion results in a shorter receptor isoform compared to the full-length GHR, known as GHRfl.
