GHR Gene

Meaning

The GHR gene, or Growth Hormone Receptor gene, provides the genetic blueprint for synthesizing the growth hormone receptor, a critical transmembrane protein located on the surface of cells throughout the body. This receptor is fundamental for initiating the physiological actions of growth hormone, a polypeptide hormone produced by the pituitary gland, by binding to it and transducing its signal across the cell membrane. Its proper function is indispensable for normal growth and metabolic regulation.
