Germline Programming

Meaning

Germline Programming refers to the process by which genetic and epigenetic information is established and transmitted through the reproductive cells—sperm and ova—to the subsequent generation. This programming dictates the fundamental developmental trajectory and baseline physiological parameters, including the initial setting of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis. It represents the inherited foundation upon which an individual’s hormonal health and longevity potential are built.
