Genomic Pathways

Meaning

Genomic pathways refer to the complex, multi-step molecular processes initiated by a hormonal signal that ultimately lead to the modulation of gene expression within the cell nucleus. These pathways involve the direct binding of hormone-receptor complexes to specific DNA sequences, which results in the up or down-regulation of target gene transcription. They represent the classic, slower, but sustained actions of steroid and thyroid hormones.
