Meaning

Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause (GSM) represents a collection of signs and symptoms resulting from estrogen deficiency, affecting the labia, clitoris, vestibule, vagina, urethra, and bladder. This chronic, progressive condition is primarily observed in menopausal individuals, though it can manifest in other hypoestrogenic states. Common manifestations include vaginal dryness, irritation, dyspareunia, urinary urgency, dysuria, and recurrent urinary tract infections.
