Functional Physical Capacity

Meaning

Functional Physical Capacity is a clinical measure that quantifies an individual’s ability to perform daily activities, occupational tasks, and recreational pursuits that require strength, endurance, mobility, and cardiovascular reserve. It moves beyond isolated muscle strength tests to assess the integrated, real-world utility of the musculoskeletal, cardiorespiratory, and neuro-endocrine systems. A decline in this capacity is a primary marker of age-related frailty and hormonal decline.
