Fuel Partitioning Efficiency

Meaning

The physiological effectiveness with which the body allocates incoming dietary macronutrients (carbohydrates, fats, and proteins) to either immediate energy expenditure, storage in adipose tissue, or utilization for structural repair and synthesis. High efficiency is characterized by the preferential use of fat for fuel and the appropriate routing of glucose and amino acids to muscle and liver glycogen stores, maintaining optimal body composition. This metric is a core indicator of metabolic flexibility and insulin sensitivity.
