FSH Stimulation

Meaning

FSH stimulation refers to the physiological action exerted by Follicle-Stimulating Hormone, a critical gonadotropin synthesized and released by the anterior pituitary gland, upon its primary target organs. This stimulation is indispensable for initiating the growth and maturation of ovarian follicles in females and is fundamentally required for maintaining active spermatogenesis within the seminiferous tubules of the male testes. Clinically, controlled exogenous FSH stimulation is a cornerstone of fertility treatments and assisted reproductive technologies.
