Fracture Risk Assessment Tool

Meaning

The Fracture Risk Assessment Tool, commonly known as FRAX, is a validated clinical instrument designed to estimate an individual’s absolute 10-year probability of experiencing a major osteoporotic fracture, including those of the hip, spine, forearm, or proximal humerus. This calculation integrates several clinical risk factors for fracture, with or without the inclusion of femoral neck bone mineral density values, to provide a quantitative risk assessment.
