Forward Head Posture

Meaning

Forward Head Posture, clinically known as anterior head carriage, is a common postural deviation where the head is positioned with the sagittal plane of the earlobe significantly anterior to the mid-sagittal plane of the shoulder. This biomechanical misalignment increases the leverage on the cervical spine and surrounding musculature, leading to chronic strain, pain, and potentially affecting neurological and vascular function. While primarily musculoskeletal, its chronic inflammatory and stress effects can indirectly impact the neuroendocrine system.
