Forskolin

Meaning

Forskolin is a labdane diterpene compound derived from the root of the Indian coleus plant, Coleus forskohlii. In the context of hormonal health, it is recognized as a potent, non-receptor-mediated activator of the enzyme adenylyl cyclase. Clinically, its utility is explored for its potential to increase intracellular levels of cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP), a critical second messenger molecule involved in numerous endocrine functions and metabolic pathways.
