Follicular Stem Cells

Meaning

Follicular Stem Cells ($text{FSCs}$) are a critical population of quiescent, multipotent adult stem cells residing in the bulge region of the hair follicle. These cells are the source of all cell lineages that constitute the hair follicle, being responsible for the cyclic regeneration of the entire structure and the production of the hair shaft. Their proper function is essential for lifelong hair growth and cutaneous repair.
